Catapults

Pioneer have been doing some pioneering (appropriately enough), in miniature form. They also had a rather gory time practising first aid with realistic wound makeup. More photos here.

October 2009 saw four explorers from Discovery ESU completing their Bronze D of E expedition in the Vale of Belvoir.

In February 2009, just after all that snow, SW Notts Explorers enjoyed an interesting evening hearing about the exploits of Andrew Cooney, a Polar Explorer and the youngest person to ever to walk to the South Pole.

             

Sunrise Promise

August 2007

 

A brilliant celebration marking the beginning of the second century of Scouting, held in Dovecote Lane Park and at the Youth and Community Centre in Beeston.

             

Inger Trophy 

March 2007

 

An annual event  resurrected as a competition for Explorer Scouts and as a linking event for older scouts aged 13½ years or older designed to test night-time navigation skills, cooking skills and above all, teamwork.

             

Barton Island

July 2004

 

A dozen Explorer Scouts from Beeston, Chilwell and Stapleford spent a weekend in July 2004 trying out water activities on the river Trent.
