It is no secret that Scouting is FUN – not just for our young members, but also for the adult volunteers that work with the sections or help behind the scenes!
We are seeking additional adult volunteers to to help us in SW Notts District. Ideas of how you can help are goven below;
This could be as a Group Scout Leader or as a member of the wider District Team.
For the first time, a World Scout Jamboree will be hosted by three national Scout organizations: Scouts Canada, Asociación de Scouts de México, and the Boy Scouts of America. These three distinct cultures will join together to host the world Scouting community in a celebration of cultural exchange, mutual understanding, peace, and friendship.
The 2019 World Scout Jamboree will be held from 22 July until 2 August 2019, at The Summit Bechtel Family National Scout Reserve in the beautiful mountains of West Virginia, USA.
Unlike any other youth event, a World Scout Jamboree invites young scouts to surround themselves in the cultures of the world by joining Scouting friends from throughout the world at a single destination for 12 unforgettable days. The jamboree experience extends beyond their home – and beyond the boundaries of the host countries – to create a global adventure that will last a lifetime.
Six young people from SW Notts have spent many hours raising the funds to enable them to attend the Jamboree – which is, in itself, a vital part of the ‘Jamboree Experience’.
They couldn’t have done this without the support of members of the public, local charitaable trusts and their Scouting friends throughout the District, to whom they express their sincere thanks.
St George was chosen as the Patron Saint of Scouting by the Movement’s founder, Lord Baden-Powell, as far back as 1907. Every year since then, Scouts across the world recognise St George in various ways, including a renewal of the Promise made by members when they join Scouting.
