South West Notts Scouts News

St George’s Day to be celebrated in Beeston

St George was chosen as the Patron Saint of Scouting by the Movement’s founder, Lord Baden-Powell, as far back as 1907. Every year since then, Scouts across the world recognise St George in various ways, including a renewal of the Promise made by members when they join Scouting.

We invite you to join us on Saturday 27th April from 12 noon – 4.00pm at Broadgate Park in Beeston for what promises to be a fun-packed afternoon of activities for youg people. Scouts from Beeston, Beeston Rylands, Toton, Chilwell, Trowell, Bramcote, Stapleford, Attenborough will be celebrating St George’s connection with Scouting

We will be joined by local members of Girlguiding in Nottinghamshire, our sister organisation – also founded by Robert Baden-Powell

Current and past members of the Scout Association and members of Girlguiding UK will be invited to renew their Promise during a short ceremony at 2.00pm.

We looking forward to seeing you there.

MINIBUS INFORMATION

minibusAre you planning on using a minibus for a Scouting activity this year?

ALL Scout Groups, Districts and Counties who operate (own, borrow or hire), a minibus require a Standard Bus Permit.

Did you know, under The Road Traffic Act minibus insurance is a legal requirement? Whether you own, hire or borrow a minibus for your Scouting adventure, Unity can arrange your insurance.

Beaver Scouts and Camping

We encourage our Beavers to go camping!

It enables them to experience the fun and challenge of camping under canvas for one night – the maximum allowed in the Beaver Scout section. It prepares them for longer camps of 2 or more nights when they move into the Cub Scout section.

It gives them an opportunity to get to know other Beavers in a relaxed, friendly and, above all, safe environment, with leaders who are specifically trained to ensure their safety and well-being whilst they are away from home. Read More
